3 Bumps on a Log

The Boy, Matt Hare and Jonah Cunningham, 3 local lowbrow artists and longtime members of the skateboard community, open their exhibit -
³3 BUMPS ON A LOG² at the Tart Gallery.
A mutual admiration of each others work was the catalyst for this show. Although stylistically different all three artists draw inspiration from the same sources: Skate Boarding, Monster Movies and Japanese Toys.
³3 BUMPS ON A LOG² offers a look at three underground artists with a shared respect, vision and tribe.

Jonah Cunningham- Having shown in such diverse locations as the Harrison Gallery, the Ferry Building and the Brickyard. Jonahıs background in illustration(graphic design at Capilano College) shows in his attention to technique. Witty works which often reference popular culture icons.

Matt Hare-Matt studied fine art at Emily Carr and has shown in numerous Brickyard shows and two man shows with the Boy. Mattıs clean cartoon works often combine the organic with the mechanical with a unsettling quality reminiscent of B Movie monstrosities.

The Boy- A well known ³character² about town, the Boy is often spotted in various downtown locations promoting his shows with large sidewalk chalk drawings. His quirky characters with names like²effervescent head² have graced the walls of bars, tattoo parlours, skate & bike shops in Vancouver for years. Most recently Skull Skate launched a line of the Boy t-shirts.
